Therapeutic After School Program
Hollygrove's Therapeutic After School Program is a year-round program serving children ages 6-14
who are experiencing emotional challenges at school, at home or in their community. This program is
open to Medi-Cal eligible children and families.
Therapeutic recreational activities allow children to express themselves and learn a variety of
skills and competencies. For example, a simple game can tackle social skills, communication and
anger management, while simultaneously building self-esteem, enhancing social skills, increasing
positive peer interactions and validating each individual in the team.
Some of our therapeutic services include:
- Art therapy
- Tutoring
- Individual and family therapy
- Recreation therapy—swimming, sports, cooking, gardening, music, dance
- Gang prevention
- Anger management
- Conflict resolution
- Addiction prevention
Although this program is primarily funded by the Department of Mental Health, many of the
activities that we at Hollygrove provide, such as creative and recreation therapies, are
funded through private contributions.
